Alison Jeffrey (Hanrahan) BPhty – Director, Physiotherapist – Women’s Health, Exercise Therapy Instructor (formerly Pilates)

Alison is the Principal Physiotherapist of Chevron Island Physio. Her passion for Physiotherapy stems from a love of physical well-being and fitness. Alison represented at elite level for junior gymnastics before applying her skills with a career as a professional stunt actor.
In addition to providing treatment to her musculoskeletal patients, Alison has a special interest in the area of Women’s Health. She has undergone extensive postgraduate training in the areas of pelvic floor rehabilitation for urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, exercise during pregnancy and the post-natal period, and management of pregnancy-related pelvic pain and pelvic floor pain. Alison is also trained to fit pessaries for prolapse management and can assist women who are pregnant or post-natal, are experiencing pelvic pain or pelvic instability, have difficulty with bladder control or constipation or who are experiencing symptoms of prolapse.

Alison’s love for the area of women’s health has grown over the years after becoming a busy Mum of three children. She is passionate about helping Mum’s and Mum’s to be live healthy and active lives and works very hard to find ways to achieve her patients goals, no matter how big or small they are.

 

Sally Buratowski BPhty (Hons)UQ – Physiotherapist, Exercise Therapy Instructor(formerly Pilates), Physiofusion founder

Sally has completed courses in myofascial release, craniosacral balancing, smartball exercise, clinical and non-clinical Pilates, acupuncture, dry needling, lower limb biomechanics, the thoracic spine in sport, sacroiliac rebalancing and kinesiotaping.
 
Sally has extensive experience in all aspects of physiotherapy from acute rehabilitation of injuries, Parkinson’s disease, scoliosis, children with growing pains, stroke and chronic degenerative disease, to performance enhancement in athletes and has treated and trained many world champion athletes in areas such as triathalon, ironman, swimming and athletics.
 
Sally has developed and trademarked a new treatment method called “Physiofusion” which is a combination of physiotherapy-based exercise, Pilates exercises, yoga-like stretching and strength training. This has had extremely good results with both elite athletes and patients who have been in chronic pain for years and have not responded to traditional treatments. She has also recently released a series of programs on DVD and USB for maintenance of each area of the body in addition to a program for over 50s, over 60s, scoliosis, growing pains and chest conditions such as asthma and pneumonia.
 
 

 

Susan Bauman BPhty – Physiotherapist and Exercise Therapy Instructor(formerly Pilates, Headache Special Interest

In 1996 Susan graduated from University in the UK, with an honours degree in Physiotherapy. She has extensive experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in Australia, New Zealand and in the UK.
After graduating she worked for the British army specializing in lower limb injuries and still has a special interest in this field. She is a runner herself and before having her two children competed in triathlons ranging from sprint to half iron-man distance.
She has post graduate qualifications in sports physiotherapy, has studied acupuncture and uses dry needling to compliment her treatments where appropriate. She has a long list of post graduate courses including Clinical Pilates levels 1-4, Treatment and rehabilitation of spinal dysfunction and Post-orthopaedic surgery. More recently she has attended workshops on the Watson Headache technique and is certified to assess and diagnose those who suffer headache and migraine. Suffering from headaches herself she understands how debilitating they can be and aims to get to the root of the cause and get you headache free as soon as possible.

 

Georgia Feben – Physiotherapist, Exercise Therapy Instructor(formerly Pilates) Women’s Health 

Georgia graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Exercise Science, a Masters of Physiotherapy and an academic award for top 5% of students.

With a strong interest for helping women through the many changes that occur across their lives, Georgia specialises in Women’s Health Physiotherapy, in addition to running a musculoskeletal caseload. Georgia feels very fortunate to be able to support women with her knowledge to improve her patients understanding of their body and overall quality of life.

Georgia has completed postgraduate training of pelvic floor rehabilitation for incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pregnancy and the post-natal period. She also assists with abdominal muscle separation, mastitis, pregnancy related carpal tunnel and post-natal return to exercise.

For 4 years Georgia has been teaching reformer Pilates with additional training in pregnancy. Her favourite class to take is Mum’s and Bubs.

Away from Physiotherapy, Georgia likes to be outdoors in particular, at the beach. She also loves avocado, coffee, running and reformer Pilates.

Gillian Burgess – Physiotherapist, Exercise Therapy Instructor(formerly Pilates) Women’s Health Special Interest

Gillian graduated from Griffith University Gold Coast at the end on 2015 with a Master of Physiotherapy / Bachelor of Exercise Science. Gillian has worked not only in private physiotherapy practice but continues to work in the hospital setting as well. She feels privileged to be able to share her knowledge and experience with patients to improve their well-being and quality of life.
Her main interest is Women’s Health physiotherapy, however she shares equal interest in musculoskeletal therapy of the hip & pelvis.
Gillian not only uses her Women’s Health experience to treat private patient’s but she can also be found at the hospital running antenatal classes and providing acute care for maternity patients.
Outside of physiotherapy, she loves to keep active and enjoys a wide range of sport from surfing to mountain biking and just about everything in between. Coming from a high level sporting background in mountain biking to now treating and working with several professional athletes, Gillian understands the importance of feeling 100% and loves helping patients of all ages and skill levels achieve their goals.

Jessica Hartenthaler – Physiotherapist and Exercise Therapy Instructor (formerly Pilates)

Jessica has completed her Masters in Physiotherapy, and a Bachelor of Exercise science. She has a special interest in musculoskeletal conditions and sporting injuries, and has experience working with sporting teams on the gold coast.

Jessica has been a part of the Chevron Island Physio Team for over 5 years, and has a wealth of experience and positive outcomes with her clients. Skilled in establishing return to work and sport, inclusive of within-gym programs. She is passionate about teaching people the tools to better manage their injuries, and prevent recurrences of injuries.

Jess’ love of Physio stems from being active and challenging herself in the gym. She has personally experienced lower back injuries and overcome them with specific exercise and appropriate rehabilitation, so she knows first hand what you’re going through!

She also has a special interest in the assessment and treatment of vestibular conditions including BPPV/ vertigo and continues to expand her knowledge and training in this area.

 

Isabelle Blanc- Physiotherapist and Exercise Therapy Instructor (formerly Pilates)

Isabelle completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Monash University (2008) in Melbourne before relocating to work at a private practice in Emerald, Central Queensland to work with the rural and mining community. Isabelle’s love for Queensland and its people started to grow strongly from here.  After another 2 years working in one of Melbourne’s private rehabilitation centres, she moved to the London and worked for the National Health Trust (NHS) in the orthopaedic and musculoskeletal areas, whilst traveling to many countries in Europe, Central and South America and Africa.  After four years of this fulfilling lifestyle, Isabelle moved back to Melbourne and continued her development in the area of musculoskeletal physiotherapy with Victoria’s largest public health network.  During her time at Monash Health, Isabelle completed her Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and is in the process of completing her Masters this year. Isabelle expanded her knowledge and skills across acute, emergency department, outpatient and community service areas of musculoskeletal physiotherapy, whilst developing strong relationships with orthopaedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals.  Isabelle returned to Queensland last year to resume her desired lifestyle and enjoy everything the sunny state has to offer.

With over 12 years’ experience, Isabelle is extremely passionate about musculoskeletal physiotherapy and providing high level care across acute to chronic conditions/injury/disease.  Isabelle has a keen interest in post-operative management and rehabilitation in the recovery from both elective and trauma surgery i.e.) knee surgeries, shoulder reconstructions, ankle reconstructions and joint replacements, as well as pre-rehabilitation and/or conservative management of all fractures and soft tissue injuries.  Competing at high levels herself in various sports, including rowing and basketball, Isabelle understands the importance for athletes to return to sport in a client goal focussed manner, whilst maintaining a healthy therapeutic alliance.  Isabelle’s experience and training as a primary contact practitioner in an Emergency Department has given her a keen interest in diagnosis and management of acute injuries and pain management.  Isabelle also has a keen interest and biopsychosocial approach managing people with chronic health/disease and those experiencing chronic pain conditions from her experience working at a busy Pain Clinic in Melbourne.

 

Simon Ayling – Clinical Pilates Instructor

Simon completed his Certificate III Fitness leader, Gym instructor, L1 sports trainer and Sports first aid before adding levels 1-4 in clinical Pilates so he could provide his clients with a more clinical approach. Simon has been instructing clinical Pilates since 2003 where he treats chronic conditions, pre and post-operative rehabilitation, joint biomechanical function, sports specific function and instructs general exercise classes.

Simon is the author of Simply Stretch. A stretching book that provides people with an easy to follow full body stretching routine, allowing them to maintain flexibility and normal range of movement. 

 

 

 
 

Our Massage Therapists

Carolina Andriotti Neves – Remedial Massage Therapist

Carolina believes her calling in this life is to heal and help people to keep their balance in body, mind, and soul. She began her  therapist journey in 2018, is passionate about massage and is a  qualified Remedial Massage Therapist.

Carolina is trained in deep tissue, reflexology, dry needling, hot stone, Chinese cupping, pregnancy massage, remedial massage, lymphatic drainage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release and energy healing.

With her past experience in day spas, you will love the energy that Carolina brings to your massage experience

Her aim is to always try to keep her balance, and to help others in this process, changing perspective and reducing peoples limiting beliefs. 

Kelly Wright – Remedial Massage Therapist

Kelly has a Diploma of Remedial Massage, and has also  completed Dry Needling Training. Her skills include Myofascial Cupping, Kinesiology Taping, Rigid Taping and TENS

Kelly has a  special interest in Athletes, Injury Management and Chronic Pain and has treated all walks of life from the young to the young at heart!

Being an athlete herself, she has worked with physio’s and massage therapists since her early teens, which certainly helps Kelly to better empathise with clients but also brings many more years of experience and understanding that cannot be taught.

Priding herself on truly listening to clients needs and being passionate about helping her clients achieve their goals – no matter how big or small as well as giving them a space to feel comfortable and valued.  

Our Podiatrist

Ellie Robinson

B.Pod, B.Ped, M.A.Pod.A.

Ellie grew up on the North Yorkshire moors of England, and has called the Gold Coast home for the past 15 years, after emigrating with her family. She completed both a Bachelor of Podiatry and a Bachelor of Pedorthics at Southern Cross University in 2021. She is a member of both, The Australian Podiatry Association and The Pedorthic Association of Australia.

Ellies passion for podiatry stems from wanting to build long lasting relationships with her clients, improve their foot and ankle health and make a positive impact in people’s lives. Ellie has a special interest in Dermatology, Geriatrics and Pedorthics. She regularly manages the over 50’s population, patients with footwear concerns and conditions of the skin and nail.

She is a keen swimmer and squash player and, on her weekends, enjoys exploring the local hinterland with her partner Daniel.

Tracey – Senior Administration

Tracey moved to the Gold Coast from Warragul in Gippsland Victoria in 2014 with her husband Geoff. 
She loves getting to know our clients and will go out of her way to ensure you have a wonderful experience. Her enthusiasm and smile is infectious and we feel very lucky to have her as part of our team.

 

Kelly Wright – Administration

Kelly joined our administration team earlier this year. Her vibrant and positive personality are a perfect addition to our wonderful admin team.

Kelly loves to keep active and can regularly be found competing in triathlons all over Queensland.   Her dedication to her training and her work are truly inspirational.

 

Julie Phillips

Julie joined the Chevron Island Physio team in 2021. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in administration.
